  • Big Island Invasive Species Committee (BIISC) - a cool, proactive, not-for-profit group.
  • Environment Hawai'i - "Since 1990, Environment Hawai`i has gained a reputation as the single most important source of news on environmental issues in the 50th state."
  • Hawai`i Chapter of the Sierra Club - working to preserve Hawai'i's environment.
  • Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary - maps, news, research, & more.
  • Hawai'i Ho'olau Hou, Hawaii Releaf - "[Our] goal is to restore and redevelop underused areas with indigenous species, that is, native plant communities in Hawai'i. Our planting sites include State and County Parks, school grounds and public rights of way."
  • Hawai`i The Trust for Public Land - "only national nonprofit working exclusively to protect land for human enjoyment and well-being."
  • Hawai`i's Mountain Streams Expedition - information on a past expedition to Maui, and the scientific findings of the participants.
  • Hawai`i - information on the Hawai'i chapter of the Nature Conservancy.
  • Hoolono - "celebrating native Hawaiian plants and animals through Hawaiian mele (songs), oli (chants), hula"
  • Hawaii Service Trip & High School Hikers Programs - get involved in preserving Hawai'i - go on one of the Hawai'i Sierra Club land preservation trips!
  • Hawaii Stream Research Center - dedicated to assisting "...the State of Hawaii in its efforts to develop responsible, effective, science-based management policies and strategies which provide for the long-term sustainability and enhancement of aquatic ecosystems."
  • Hawaii Water Environment Association - Hawai'i's chapter of the national Water Environment Association.  "WEF's mission is to preserve and enhance the global water environment."
  • Limahuli Gardens - an organization with four gardens (3 in Hawai'i and 1 in Florida).  They are dedicated to conservation of tropical plant and ecosystem preservation.
  • Malama Hawai`i - "To inspire, and be inspired by, the people of Hawai`i to Malama (care for) our island home, through a partnership that enriches our lives and our children's future. Our work will integrate the environment, health, education, justice, culture and the economy; and celebrate the strength of community."
  • Na Ala Hele - Hawaii Trail System & Access - "established in 1988 through Chapter 198D Hawaii Revised Statues, in response to public concern about the increasing loss of public access to trails and the threat to historic trails from development pressure."
  • Recycle Hawaii - "The mission of Recycle Hawai`i is to promote resource awareness and recycling on the Island of Hawai'i."
